Gabriela Brown, PsyD

It is hard to know how to help your child or teen when you know something is going on but they won’t talk to you about it.  This is where a therapist with skill and experience in working with children, adolescents, and their families can help.

Dr. Brown is an Independent Contractor in our Ridgewood, NJ office. She brings to CDB Solutions her expertise in providing CBT with fidelity to children, tweens, and adolescents.

Dr. Brown’s work focuses on providing Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) to children, tweens, adolescents, young adults, millennials, and adults.  Dr. Brown’s specialty is working with children and tweens!  She works collaboratively with her clients to teach them to cope and grow in the wake of loss, depression, anxiety, stress, behavior disorders, family transitions, self-esteem issues, trauma, and relationship difficulties.

Dr. Brown believes that therapeutic change occurs through a supportive, trusting, and collaborative relationship in which client strengths are drawn out and emphasized.  Within the therapeutic relationship, she works to empower clients, young and adults to increase awareness of themselves, their ways of relating, and to develop their own set of unique coping skills in the face of stress and change.  She offers a collaborative, compassionate approach, utilizing evidence-based treatments, including CBT, DBT, solution-focused therapy, and parent training

Although Dr. Brown focuses on the main client, and she strongly believes in the importance of involving other family members as appropriate.

Dr. Brown is a nationally certified school psychologist licensed in the State of New Jersey.  As such, she has a unique perspective on some of the challenges faced by school-aged children and adolescents.  She can help families:  Work with their school systems, understand the services available to them in New Jersey, learn how and when to advocate for themselves, and understand diagnostic testing requests and results.
